Dubai’s Community Development Authority and Dubai Charity Association have concluded the Khair Dubai Be Ahlaha initiative, delivering thousands of Iftar meals during Ramadan while advancing economic opportunities for Emirati home-based entrepreneurs.

Held in Muhaisnah, the programme combined community support with income generation by engaging local families in preparing and distributing meals. Around 13,000 Iftar meals were served throughout the month, with six participating families contributing daily, according to officials.

The initiative reflects Dubai’s broader strategy of linking social welfare with long-term economic empowerment. Authorities aim to transition families from reliance on support to sustainable income generation by nurturing home-based businesses and strengthening their role in the local economy.

Ali Alqassim, Director of Financial Benefits and Empowerment at the CDA, said the programme is part of a wider framework designed to create lasting economic pathways. He noted that efforts extend beyond seasonal support to include training, project evaluation, brand development, and improved access to markets.

Officials reported that participating families received a combined AED260,000 in support, alongside training in food safety, logistics, and business operations. The initiative also connected them with supply chains and provided performance monitoring to help scale their ventures.

Beyond its economic impact, the programme reinforced social cohesion by promoting volunteerism and shared responsibility. Families reported improved financial stability during Ramadan and highlighted the personal fulfilment gained from contributing to the community.

Looking ahead, participants expressed ambitions to expand their ventures into year-round businesses, with plans to open permanent outlets and reach wider markets while maintaining the initiative’s community-driven ethos.
