Dubai’s education sector is taking a decisive step toward holistic youth development as the Knowledge and Human Development Authority and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation formalise a strategic partnership to expand leadership and non-formal learning opportunities for young people.

The agreement was signed during the World Governments Summit and underscores a shared commitment to preparing students for life beyond academic achievement. It places emphasis on leadership, resilience, confidence, wellbeing, and community service as essential skills for navigating an increasingly complex global landscape.

Her Excellency Aisha Miran, Director General of KHDA, said the partnership aligns with Dubai’s Education 33 Strategy, which aims to develop future-ready learners with strong character and a clear sense of purpose. She noted that the collaboration reflects a belief that meaningful education must support both personal growth and long-term success.

Martin Houghton-Brown, Secretary General of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting its focus on inclusivity and skills development for young people from all backgrounds. He added that the foundation looks forward to engaging with Dubai’s youth, parents, and educators to better understand local needs and aspirations.

The partnership brings together the foundation’s more than 70 years of global experience in youth empowerment with KHDA’s learner-centric education vision. It establishes a framework for ongoing dialogue and exploration aimed at strengthening leadership, life skills, and character development across Dubai’s education ecosystem.

Both organisations will also explore ways to integrate internationally recognised non-formal learning pathways in alignment with Dubai’s long-term human development goals, ensuring young people are equipped to thrive in the modern world.
