Dubai’s gaming scene is getting a major power-up as the Dubai Esports and Games Festival (DEF) 2025 launches its most expansive edition yet from 25 April to 11 May.
Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the region’s largest gaming event spans 17 action-packed days of esports tournaments, family fun, cosplay contests, educational workshops, and cutting-edge previews.
Gamers of all levels can dive into free-to-play zones featuring hits like League of Legends, Fortnite, EA FC 25, and PUBG Mobile, along with console face-offs and arcade classics. With over AED 500,000 in prizes up for grabs, the city becomes a hub for high-stakes gameplay, tech innovation, and immersive entertainment.
The flagship GameExpo returns to Dubai World Trade Centre from 9–11 May, offering themed zones from retro arcades and Sim Racing to Web3 gaming and family fun. New features this year include The Amazon Quest and a Just Dance Zone powered by Ubisoft. The Main Arena and The Narrows marketplace promise non-stop excitement, while dedicated talabat F&B zones keep the energy high.
Cosplay fans can gear up for the Dubai Cosplay Championship on 11 May, with AED 30,000 in prizes and exclusive meet-and-greets. Meanwhile, Play Beyond brings esports pros and influencers to the stage on 10–11 May for adrenaline-fueled matchups.
DEF also focuses on the future with its Education Engagement Programme, welcoming students and teachers for interactive workshops, competitions, and career insights. On 7–8 May, the GameExpo Summit gathers 100+ global experts to explore trends like AI, Web3, and MENA’s gaming rise.
