Majid Al Futtaim has officially rolled out barrierless parking at City Centre Deira and is set to introduce the system at Mall of the Emirates (MOE) in early February, the company confirmed.

This innovative parking solution, which replaces traditional barriers with advanced sensors, aims to streamline the parking process for millions of visitors across the company's malls.

How the New System Works

The new system utilizes cutting-edge license plate recognition technology. When customers arrive, their vehicles are automatically tracked by cameras, simplifying entry and exit. In addition, an SMS with a payment link is sent to customers if parking fees are incurred, allowing for convenient payment through a web-based platform. For added ease, Parkin's wallet service offers quicker transactions.

Expansion Plans for Barrierless Parking

This new system is part of Majid Al Futtaim's collaboration with Parkin, the largest parking operator in Dubai. Initially launched at City Centre Deira, the barrierless parking initiative will be expanded to MOE and City Centre Mirdif, aiming to enhance the parking experience for over 20 million vehicles annually.

Despite the implementation of the new technology, parking fees at these malls will remain unchanged. Khalifa Bin Braik, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, assured that there are no plans to increase parking fees. At City Centre Deira, parking remains free for the first three hours, while MOE offers a four-hour free parking window. For those who exceed the free period, shopping at the mall can extend parking benefits. Shoppers can validate their parking tickets at customer service desks to waive parking fees after spending a minimum of Dh150.

Important Parking Regulations

However, there are important parking regulations. Overnight parking between 6 am and 6 pm is prohibited, with violators facing a Dh200 fine. Parking in unauthorized spaces will result in a Dh1,000 fine. Additionally, parking fees must be paid within two days to avoid a Dh150 late fee.

Majid Al Futtaim’s introduction of barrierless parking represents a significant step towards modernizing the parking experience in Dubai, providing greater convenience for customers while maintaining operational efficiency at its flagship malls.
