Makkah Prepares to Welcome Millions for Hajj Season
The Municipality of Makkah is thoroughly preparing for the 1445 Hajj season, ensuring the well-being and comfort of millions of expected pilgrims.
A detailed plan involves mobilizing 22,000 personnel, including administrators, engineers, technicians, sanitation workers, and support teams. Additionally, security personnel, volunteers, and temporary healthcare staff will be deployed.
Cutting-edge technology and specialized machinery, such as high-tech sanitation vehicles, will efficiently manage waste. Thirteen sub-municipalities and service centers are strategically equipped to handle any arising needs. A 24-hour cleaning regime in high-density areas and round-the-clock food safety monitoring, supported by a central laboratory and mobile units, are key priorities.
The municipality coordinates with permanent committees on pilgrims' residences, building safety, and removing encroachments at holy sites. Seven slaughterhouses, capable of handling over one million animals, adhere to high hygiene standards.
Infrastructure maintenance includes 66,000 paved roads, 58 tunnels, 105 bridges, a 550-kilometer floodwater drainage network, and 114,000 lights. Public facilities are continuously maintained, and technical teams are on standby to respond to emergencies. The comprehensive plan highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to providing a safe and fulfilling Hajj experience, leveraging extensive human resources and advanced technology.
