Dubai set a bold course for its sporting future as H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, a long-term roadmap designed to elevate the emirate into the world’s leading sporting destination.

Unveiled at a Dubai Sports Council event at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, the plan outlines a comprehensive vision built on four pillars covering community, events, clubs and talent. It introduces 19 programmes and 75 initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure, expanding participation and nurturing elite athletes.

The launch gathered local and international sports figures, federation leaders and industry partners. Sheikh Mansoor also revealed Dubai’s new sports identity, an emblem selected from thousands of public submissions to serve as a unifying symbol for the sector.

Sheikh Mansoor said the initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to fostering a dynamic sports ecosystem that supports young talent, advances industry growth and enhances the city’s global reputation. He noted that the next phase will focus on supporting clubs, improving facilities and increasing community engagement.

The strategy identifies 17 priority sports across emerging, community and globally recognised categories. Targets for 2033 include raising the sports sector’s GDP contribution from AED10.17 billion to AED18.3 billion, increasing active residents from 1.6 million to 2.6 million and boosting annual event attendance to more than four million.

The plan will be showcased at the World Sports Summit in December, underscoring its alignment with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. With enhanced governance measures and cross-sector collaboration, the initiative aims to solidify Dubai’s position as the region’s sports capital and a global hub for wellbeing and high performance.
