The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and Abu Dhabi-based food technology company Silal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the Food Innovation Hub UAE’s Access Programme.
The agreement was formalized during the inaugural Global Food Security Summit, held as part of Global Food Week in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Fuzan Al Khalidi, Director of Programmes and Initiatives at MBRGI, and Salmeen Alameri, CEO of Silal, signed the MoU in the presence of Amnah bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
The MoU seeks to bolster bilateral cooperation to advance the Food Innovation Hub UAE—a joint initiative launched by MBRGI and the World Economic Forum during COP28. The initiative focuses on enhancing global food security and promoting sustainable food practices by supporting innovators with resources, networking, and technological tools.
Dr. Al Khalidi highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating,
“The MoU with Silal advances the Hub’s mission by connecting it with national talent committed to food sustainability and environmental protection.”
Salmeen Alameri expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing Silal’s Innovation Oasis as a platform to drive agri-food advancements and address UAE-specific challenges.
As part of the MoU, Silal will join the Food Innovation Hub UAE’s Leadership Council and provide access to its Innovation Oasis, a dedicated space for promoting the Hub’s initiatives.
The partnership underscores a shared commitment to creating sustainable food solutions, ensuring food security, and addressing global hunger challenges.
