Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), met with Catherine Russell, Executive Director of UNICEF, at the World Economic Forum in Davos (20–24 January 2025) to strengthen their collaboration and evaluate the impact of MBRGI's AED30 million (US$8.1 million) contribution to UNICEF’s Child Nutrition Fund (CNF).

The pledge, made a year ago, supports the CNF’s mission to implement sustainable solutions to end child malnutrition. The funding is projected to deliver essential food supplements and therapeutic meals to over 371,000 children and women across Mongolia, Tanzania, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka by 2027.

Al Gergawi emphasized the importance of this partnership, saying,

“Our collaboration reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to ensure vulnerable children and families live with dignity through vital care and support.”

He highlighted the urgent need for such initiatives amid global economic crises, conflicts, and climate change, which worsen challenges faced by women and children in affected regions.

MBRGI’s humanitarian efforts align with its mission to combat hunger and malnutrition, empower communities, and provide global aid. In 2023 alone, the organization spent AED1.8 billion, benefitting over 111 million people in 105 countries. Operating across five pillars—Humanitarian Aid, Healthcare, Education, Innovation, and Community Empowerment—MBRGI continues to drive impactful change.

The meeting reaffirmed MBRGI and UNICEF’s shared commitment to addressing child nutrition challenges and creating sustainable, long-term solutions for vulnerable populations worldwide.
