The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives has announced new support for a UNICEF-led measles vaccination programme that will reach one million children living in marginalised communities and conflict-affected areas worldwide.

The commitment was unveiled during MBRGI’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, held from January 19 to 23 under the theme A Spirit of Dialogue. As part of the announcement, Saeed Al Eter, CEO of MBRGI, signed a Letter of Intent with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell, formalising the partnership.

Under the agreement, MBRGI will support UNICEF’s efforts to deliver life-saving measles vaccines to children who have missed routine immunisation, particularly in regions where access to basic healthcare remains limited. The programme focuses on strengthening vaccination systems to ensure long-term protection and healthy development.

Al Eter said the collaboration reflects MBRGI’s commitment to expanding strategic partnerships with international organisations and advancing the humanitarian vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He noted that protecting children from preventable diseases remains a core priority for the foundation’s global work.

Russell welcomed the renewed partnership, highlighting its impact on children affected by conflict and displacement. She said no child should lose their life to a disease that can be easily prevented through vaccination.

Since its launch in 2015, MBRGI has allocated more than AED13.8 billion to humanitarian initiatives, benefiting 788 million people across 118 countries. In 2024 alone, the foundation spent over AED2.2 billion, supporting programmes across healthcare, education, humanitarian aid, innovation, and community empowerment.
