MBRGI Contributes Additional AED220 Million to Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation
A new medical complex at the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre in Cairo will be named in honour of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
This tribute follows a generous AED220 million contribution from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), bringing its total support for the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation to AED320 million.
The funding will help complete the medical complex and expand access to quality healthcare services. With this expansion, the Centre will have the capacity to treat 120,000 outpatients and conduct 12,000 surgeries annually, serving a total of 132,000 patients each year.
The signing of the agreement was witnessed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, who emphasised the UAE's commitment to supporting humanitarian causes.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary General of MBRGI, echoed this sentiment, praising the partnership with Professor Magdi Yacoub as a collaboration that combines medical expertise and humanitarian care.
Professor Yacoub expressed deep gratitude, noting that the expansion will provide life-saving treatments, particularly for children with congenital heart conditions. The new complex in 6th of October City will feature 300 beds, 36 outpatient clinics, and cutting-edge research facilities, aiming to become a global leader in cardiovascular medicine.
This initiative underscores the UAE's dedication to fostering regional healthcare advancements and supporting Egypt's medical infrastructure.
