The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has officially launched the ‘Future Skills Academy’ as part of the ‘Knowledge Project.’
This initiative aims to empower individuals across the Arab world and was announced during the ‘Digitalization for Sustainable Development’ (D4SD) event at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Notable attendees included dignitaries such as Omran Sharaf, UAE Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, and Haoliang Xu, UN Under-Secretary-General. The academy reflects the UAE's vision for a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and creativity.
As a key component of the FutureSkills4All Initiative launched last year, the Future Skills Academy aims to equip over a million individuals with essential skills through various educational programs. These initiatives seek to close educational gaps and tackle unemployment challenges by aligning training with market demands.
Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, highlighted that the academy represents a crucial step towards empowering future generations. He stated,
“This initiative aligns with our commitment to bridging gaps and promoting human development in the Arab region.”
The academy will offer a range of certified programs, both online and in-person, targeting students, professionals, and government officials. It aims to enhance digital skills and foster community innovation, addressing labor market inequalities and promoting gender equity.
The initiative is poised to play a vital role in bridging the digital divide and nurturing a generation equipped to tackle sustainable development challenges.
