The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has officially opened applications for UAE nationals to participate in future analog studies under the UAE Analog Programme. These Earth-based simulations are designed to mimic space conditions and study the effects of isolation and confinement on human psychology, physiology, and team dynamics.
Part of the UAE’s broader space exploration goals, the programme supports national efforts to prepare for long-duration space missions, including future lunar and interplanetary travel. Analog studies are a critical component in human spaceflight research, enabling scientists to test strategies and technologies for deep-space exploration without leaving Earth.
Participants in these studies will help researchers explore how the human body and mind respond to extended periods in confined environments. The experiments will also involve testing new technologies such as robotic systems, vehicles, power generation, and habitat infrastructure—key components in future missions to the Moon and Mars.
Adnan AlRais, Assistant Director General of the Space Operations and Exploration Sector at MBRSC, stated:
“Analog studies are vital for validating mission-critical systems and understanding how astronauts adapt physically and mentally to space-like conditions. This research supports the development of life-support protocols, countermeasures against microgravity effects, and strategies for crew interaction during long-term missions.”
Here are the eligibility requirements to apply for the UAE Analog Programme:
- Must be a UAE national
- Aged between 30 and 55 years
- In good physical health
- Must pass a medical screening (including physical and physiological assessments)
- Must undergo and pass a psychological evaluation for readiness in isolation and confinement
- Hold at least a bachelor's degree, preferably in:
- Medical care
- Engineering
- Software
- Technology
- Advanced degrees or specialised experience will be given preference
To apply, interested individuals can register via: https://www.mbrsc.ae/mbrevents/
This initiative reinforces the UAE’s position as a key player in global space research and innovation, offering Emiratis a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of human space exploration.
