The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to enhance collaboration on digital transformation, AI governance, and public policy development in the Arab world.
The agreement cements MBRSG’s role as a leading academic institution specializing in policy research and government leadership development. It aims to support government innovation and data-driven policymaking while reinforcing regional cooperation, capacity building, and applied research in digital governance and advanced technology.
This strategic partnership aligns with regional efforts to strengthen global leadership in digital transformation and government services. By leveraging data and AI, the initiative seeks to improve government performance, enhance efficiency, and elevate service quality. A key focus is fostering partnerships with local and international entities, exchanging best practices, and investing in scientific research and human capacity development.
Additionally, the collaboration promotes digital sustainability, ensuring that digital transformation integrates sustainability principles to enhance quality of life. It also emphasizes the development of integrated digital platforms that offer seamless and efficient government services.
The MoU was signed during the World Governments Summit 2025 by Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, and MBRSG’s Executive President, Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri.
“This collaboration will help advance AI governance for sustainable digital transformation, ensuring that governments are future-ready,”
said Dr. Al Dardari.
Dr. Al Marri added,
“This partnership reaffirms our commitment to equipping Arab governments with the necessary skills and tools to navigate AI and emerging technologies.”
The agreement focuses on capacity building, research, AI ethics evaluation, and governance frameworks, aligning with the UAE’s digital vision and sustainable development goals. MBRSG and UNDP will establish a joint research and training platform to empower policymakers with digital and AI skills.
