Meta is expanding its paid subscription model worldwide, rolling out consumer plans for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp while testing new tiers for businesses, creators and AI users.

The social media giant confirmed the global launch of Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus, each tailored to its respective platform. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus lean toward social expression features, offering profile customization and super reactions, while WhatsApp Plus centers on personalization and messaging tools. Story insights are also included across the plans.

Meta's head of product, Naomi Gleit, said the company plans to introduce more features over time, signaling a long-term commitment to building out its paid ecosystem.

On the business side, Meta will begin testing professional plans for creators and businesses alongside AI-focused subscriptions for general users. These offerings will fall under a unified brand called Meta One, which the company is positioning as its central hub for all subscription products going forward.

Meta clarified that the new Plus plans are separate from its existing Meta Verified subscription, which remains focused on account verification, impersonation protection and dedicated support. The two products are designed to serve different user needs rather than compete with each other.

The move reflects a broader industry shift toward subscription-based revenue as platforms look to diversify beyond advertising. For Meta, which generates the vast majority of its income from ad sales, building a scalable paid tier across its most-used apps represents a meaningful step toward long-term revenue diversification.
