At GITEX Global 2024, Microsoft announced the launch of the AI National Skills Initiative, aimed at upskilling 100,000 government employees in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

In partnership with local government entities, the 12-month program seeks to empower civil servants to drive AI innovation and reinforce the UAE's role as a global leader in artificial intelligence.

The initiative offers role-specific training tailored for government leaders, developers, and frontline workers. The program is designed to address AI knowledge gaps, enhance fluency, and equip employees with the skills needed to integrate AI into their roles. This initiative supports the UAE’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and aims to foster digital transformation across public services.

Naim Yazbeck, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, emphasized the importance of skilling in achieving the UAE’s AI ambitions, stating,

"By equipping government employees with the tools to leverage AI, we are fostering local talent and ensuring the UAE remains at the forefront of AI innovation."

In addition to the AI National Skills Initiative, Microsoft unveiled its AI Skills Navigator platform, which offers personalized learning paths and over 200 free resources. At GITEX Global, Microsoft is also showcasing its innovative AI application, 'Sawa,' which helps UAE residents manage public services and contribute to the nation's Happiness Index.

Microsoft’s participation at GITEX includes interactive demos, tech talks, and a dedicated networking area, all aimed at demonstrating how AI can enhance the quality of life in the UAE.
