The 14th National Dialogue on Climate Ambition, organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), took place at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) headquarters.

This event is part of a series aimed at shaping the UAE’s sustainability strategy and guiding the nation towards climate neutrality.

Hosted in partnership with IMPACTGULF, the dialogue focused on how innovation can expedite the shift to a low-carbon economy and the critical role of green initiatives in integrating digital transformation with sustainability goals.

During the event, seven new entities—Dubai Road and Transport Authority, Dubai Holding, Emirates Development Bank, Al-Futtaim Group, Stratecis, Antelope Toplink LLC, and IPT-energy—joined the MOCCAE’s Climate Responsible Companies Pledge. This increases the total number of signatories to 138. These organizations have pledged to transparently report their greenhouse gas emissions, develop science-based carbon reduction plans, and collaborate with the UAE government to meet the national net-zero target by 2050.

Dr. Alanoud Alhaj, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary of Green Development and Climate Change at MOCCAE, highlighted the significance of engaging with major corporates and the private sector, emphasizing their role in advancing the UAE’s decarbonization efforts. She stressed the importance of private sector innovation in transforming industries into sustainable systems.

Aisha Al Abdooli, Director of the Green Development Department at MOCCAE, delivered the keynote speech, advocating for leveraging digital innovation to enhance sustainability solutions.

The dialogue featured a welcome address by Alya Al Zarouni, Chief Operating Officer at DIFC Authority, and Christoph Klarmann, Deputy Ambassador at the German Embassy in the UAE. The event included presentations by Yassin Nasri of IMPACTGULF and Joëlle Jammal of the UN Global Compact UAE, concluding with a working session on “The Pros and Cons of AI for the Advancement of Sustainability,” moderated by Ahmed Ameen Ashour and Shayma Kurz.
