Ministry of Culture Unveils Extensive Cultural, Knowledge Initiatives for UAE Reading Month 2025
The Ministry of Culture has announced an extensive lineup of cultural and knowledge-based initiatives set to take place across the UAE during Reading Month in March 2025.
This initiative aligns with the nation’s commitment to fostering a reading culture and equipping individuals with essential knowledge and skills, reinforcing the UAE’s long-term vision of establishing a knowledge-driven society.
The announcement was made during a press conference at Al Safa Art and Design Library in Dubai, attended by key officials, including Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Dubai Culture, Sharjah Book Authority, and the Emirates Writers Union.
Reading Month 2025 will feature a diverse array of programmes spearheaded by government entities, local organisations, and cultural institutions. These activities aim to enhance reading habits, promote sustainable development, and strengthen cultural awareness across all segments of society.
Mubarak Al Nakhi highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the ambitious ‘UAE Centennial 2071’ vision, which aspires to position the UAE as a global hub for innovation and culture. He stated,
“The UAE Reading Month initiative reflects our nation’s steadfast dedication to cultivating a well-informed society. Through strategic initiatives, we aim to elevate the role of reading as a fundamental pillar of knowledge development and societal progress.”
Throughout March, the Ministry’s Cultural and Creative Centres will host various events, including book fairs, panel discussions, and literary workshops. Additionally, multiple initiatives launched by local cultural bodies will engage diverse age groups, further solidifying the UAE’s commitment to nurturing a future-ready generation through the power of reading.
