The Ministry of Economy and Tourism has recognised 11 federal entities and national companies for their outstanding contributions to expanding Emirati small and medium-sized enterprises’ access to government contracts and tenders in 2025, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to building a stronger and more inclusive procurement ecosystem.
The honours were presented during the second edition of the National Forum for SMEs – Government Procurement, which celebrates organisations and individuals driving tangible impact in supporting national entrepreneurship through public sector purchasing.
Recipients of the Government Procurement Awards included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Health and Prevention, Federal Tax Authority, Emirates Health Services, Etihad Airways, e&, Higher Colleges of Technology, and United Arab Emirates University.
Abdullah Al Saleh, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, said the recognition reflects the Ministry’s vision to motivate entities to facilitate SME participation in contracting opportunities and encourage their integration into government supply chains.
Five organisations, namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Emirates Health Services, Etihad Airways, and e&, received the Best Government Procurement Granting Entities award. The Ministry of Justice and UAEU shared the Best Entity for Growth in Contract Value Awarded distinction, while the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Tax Authority were honoured for achieving the 10 per cent target for awarding contracts to SMEs. The Ministry of Health and Prevention was recognised for supporting the highest number of benefiting SMEs.
Individual honours under the Best Procurement Managers category were awarded to senior procurement leaders from the Ministry of Interior, Federal Tax Authority, Emirates Health Services, e&, and Higher Colleges of Technology.
Winners were selected based on transparent criteria aligned with the SME Support Indicator in Government Procurement, which measures compliance with Federal Law No. (2) of 2014 mandating that at least 10 per cent of government contract value be allocated to eligible national SMEs.
