The UAE Ministry of Education has unveiled an approved academic calendar covering the next three school years, providing long term clarity for students, parents, and educators while strengthening planning across the country’s education sector.
The move is designed to create stability, support early preparation, and ensure a balanced academic structure that aligns learning outcomes with social and educational needs.
According to the Ministry, the calendar applies to both public and private schools and establishes fixed start dates, holidays, and term schedules through the 2028–2029 academic year. Officials said the initiative reflects a commitment to sustainable education planning and improved resource management across schools nationwide.
For the 2026–2027 academic year, classes will begin on August 31, 2026, with a mid term break from October 12 to 18 and winter holidays running from December 14 to January 3, 2027. Spring break is scheduled from April 5 to 11, with the academic year ending on July 2, 2027.
The 2027–2028 school year will start on August 30, 2027, and conclude on June 30, 2028. Meanwhile, the 2028–2029 academic year will commence on August 28, 2028, with the final day of classes set for June 29, 2029. Each year includes designated mid term, winter, and spring breaks aligned with instructional requirements.
The Ministry stressed that all schools must follow the approved mid term break schedule. However, some private schools not implementing the national curriculum may divide the break between October and February, subject to local authority approval. This flexibility does not apply to private schools in Sharjah, which operate under separate regulations.
Schools are also required to maintain student attendance until the final day by scheduling assessments or completing curriculum requirements during the last week of term, except for students sitting pre scheduled international examinations.
The three year framework, the Ministry added, aims to improve sector readiness and reinforce the role of schools as key foundations for future generations.
