The UAE Ministry of Finance is reinforcing its role in shaping future fiscal and economic policymaking through active participation in the World Governments Summit 2026, underway in Dubai from 3 to 5 February, with a focus on building resilient, sustainable, and forward-looking economies.
Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, said the UAE remains committed to contributing to global dialogue and exchanging expertise to address accelerating economic, technological, and geopolitical challenges. He noted that these overlapping pressures require new models of international cooperation and proactive fiscal policies capable of absorbing shocks, stimulating inclusive growth, and delivering long-term sustainability.
Al Hussaini highlighted the summit as a key platform for linking strategic visions with practical implementation, while stressing the ministry’s emphasis on fiscal sustainability, digital transformation, and the use of artificial intelligence in public financial management to improve spending efficiency, transparency, and service quality.
The ministry participated in a high-level session on artificial intelligence, examining its economic and financial implications and its potential to enhance fiscal efficiency, strengthen risk management, and support financial stability, alongside the need for balanced policy frameworks.
In partnership with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the ministry also hosted a joint session on economic transformation in GCC states, focusing on innovative financing and the integration of fiscal and monetary policies. Speakers underscored the importance of deeper Gulf integration, financial and technological innovation, and stronger cybersecurity frameworks.
On the sidelines of the summit, the ministry signed memoranda of understanding with the finance ministries of Kuwait and Bermuda, aimed at expanding cooperation in public financial management, macroeconomic and fiscal policy, taxation, public debt management, and capital markets.
