The Ministry of Finance (MoF) in the UAE has announced the success of its Digital Procurement Platform, which has attracted significant attention both domestically and internationally.
Launched in 2021, the platform integrates advanced technological practices to enhance procurement operations, offering 34 categories of products and services from 234 suppliers, totalling over 120,000 items.
In the first half of 2024, the platform is projected to save AED 31.1 million, with 10% savings through catalogue purchasing and 44% from improved efficiency in resource utilisation. Mariam Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of Government Finance Management at MoF, emphasised that the platform supports national economic growth and the strategic objectives of the "Supply Strategy of the Federal Government."
The platform features a user-friendly interface with digital features such as UAE Pass login, smart reporting, electronic signatures, and a streamlined purchase process, reducing the time from 60 days to 6 minutes. It also prioritizes suppliers who meet Emiratisation quotas and offers a 10% price preference for SMEs, enhancing their competitive edge.
The MoF recently hosted delegations from various governmental bodies, showcasing the platform's integration of AI and cutting-edge technologies that ensure transparency and efficiency. The platform also includes a Federal Asset Tracking System, unifying procurement and asset management processes.
The Digital Procurement Platform has not only simplified procurement procedures but also fostered increased collaboration with suppliers, aligning with the UAE’s digital transformation agenda and boosting the country’s economic and strategic objectives.
