UAE E-Commerce Giants Sign Compliance Pledge to Ensure Product Safety.

In a landmark move, eleven of the UAE's top e-commerce platforms have joined forces with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology by signing the Compliance Pledge. This initiative is designed to enhance the quality and safety of products sold online, aligning them with the UAE’s stringent standards and regulations.

The signing ceremony, held in Dubai on Monday, included major industry players such as Amazon, Noon, Al-Futtaim Group (IKEA, Ace Hardware, Watsons, Toys 'R' Us, Marks & Spencer), Nikai Group, Lulu International Group, and Samsung, among others. The pledge underscores a shared commitment to consumer safety, reinforcing trust in online shopping across the UAE.

Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry, emphasized the pledge’s importance, stating,

“This initiative is a significant step towards our National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology. It highlights the crucial collaboration between the government and private sector to enhance product quality and safety.”

The Ministry is actively promoting compliance through monitoring and awareness campaigns, in collaboration with federal and local authorities. The goal is to support the UAE’s growing e-commerce sector, which is projected to reach $9.2 billion by 2026, according to the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.

This initiative also includes measures like voluntary product recalls and consumer notifications through the Manaa System, ensuring a safer shopping environment for all.
