The UAE Ministry of Investment and the World Bank have formalised a new partnership aimed at strengthening the country's investment environment and advancing its ambitions as a leading global destination for foreign direct investment.

The agreement was signed by Mohammad Abdulrahman Alhawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Investment, and Boutheina Guermazi, World Bank Director for Strategy and Operations for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan region. It falls under the broader framework agreement signed between the World Bank and the UAE Ministry of Finance in 2019.

At its core, the partnership focuses on making the UAE's investment climate more transparent, predictable and internationally competitive. The World Bank will bring its global expertise to support a comprehensive investment reform agenda, helping to deepen the institutional foundations needed to attract, retain and grow high-quality investment.

Alhawi highlighted the significance of the milestone, noting that the UAE entered the world's top 10 FDI destinations in 2024 and is targeting a doubling of annual FDI to US$65 billion by 2031.

"We remain committed to an investment climate that is ever more transparent, predictable, and competitive,"

he said.

Guermazi echoed that commitment, stating the partnership would combine global expertise with locally tailored solutions to help drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the country.

The agreement directly supports the UAE's National Investment Strategy, which outlines the country's vision to become one of the world's most dynamic hubs for transformative capital. By deepening institutional ties with partners like the World Bank, the UAE is reinforcing the structural foundations needed to accelerate economic diversification and sustain its momentum on the global investment stage.
