The Ministry of Sports held its first-ever ‘Future of Sports Retreat’ under the theme ‘A New Vision for a Better Sports Future,’ marking a significant milestone since its inception.
The retreat focused on shaping the future of Emirati sports as part of the National Sports Strategy 2031, bringing together key leaders, athletes, and decision-makers.
Prominent attendees included Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, and Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports. The event provided a platform for discussing the development of youth, promoting professionalism in sports, and exploring sports as a form of public diplomacy to enhance the UAE’s global standing.
In his speech, Dr. Al Falasi emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering Emirati athletes and outlined the goals of increasing sports participation to 75% and raising Olympic athlete numbers by 2032. He highlighted the progress made, with 95% of high-priority projects already completed under the national strategy.
The retreat concluded with the announcement of the University Games, a national competition aimed at discovering and nurturing sports talent across UAE universities, further supporting the country’s vision of fostering elite athletes.
