The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens Energy to collaborate on advancing the country’s green and clean energy initiatives.

The agreement was formalized at the World Utilities Congress, hosted by TAQA, with key signatories Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, and Khalid bin Hadi, Managing Director of Siemens Energy in the UAE.

The partnership focuses on addressing future challenges related to grid infrastructure, enhancing sustainable development, and exploring technological opportunities for energy transition. Both parties will work on knowledge exchange, technical workshops, and brainstorming sessions to find innovative solutions for grid expansion and reliability.

Under the MoU, Siemens Energy and MoEI aim to evaluate the UAE's current grid infrastructure and its ability to integrate renewable energy sources. They will also explore hydrogen production and storage, analysing its impact on the energy landscape and industrial economy. Collaboration with local universities and research institutions to develop youth expertise in clean energy is another priority.

Sharif Al Olama commented on the partnership, saying,

"This collaboration will significantly contribute to the UAE’s sustainable energy objectives and position the country as a hub for clean, climate-friendly solutions."

Khalid bin Hadi echoed this sentiment, adding,

"Together, we will pursue sustainable technologies to drive energy transition and combat climate change."

The MoU aligns with the UAE’s vision to transition to a sustainable, clean energy economy, fostering economic growth while addressing environmental concerns.
