Dubai reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge innovation at the World Government Summit 2025, where His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed two transformative projects: RAILBUS, a solar-powered mass transit system, and Therme Dubai, a world-class wellness destination.
Accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and other dignitaries, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the RAILBUS project, an autonomous, eco-friendly transport system designed to support the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050 and Dubai’s target of 25% autonomous trips by 2030.
RAILBUS: A New Era in Urban Mobility
RAILBUS incorporates lightweight, recyclable materials, offering lower operational costs and energy efficiency. With seamless integration into Dubai’s public transport network, the system aims to reduce infrastructure costs while providing a sustainable and efficient transit solution.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the RTA, announced that technical studies for the project will conclude within two years, with pilot operations planned thereafter.
Therme Dubai: Redefining Wellness Tourism
Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed Therme Dubai, a AED2 billion wellness resort set to span 500,000 square feet in Zabeel Park. Positioned as the world’s tallest wellness destination, the resort will feature:
- Themed wellbeing zones
- Indoor pools
- An interactive water park
- The world’s largest indoor botanical garden
The resort’s design prioritizes sustainability, with 90% of thermal pool water recycled and 80% of cooling needs met through clean energy. Drawing inspiration from Roman, Turkish, and Japanese spa traditions, it will also host cultural performances, blending wellness with entertainment.
Led by the Therme Group, this project cements Dubai’s status as a global leader in innovation, sustainability, and luxury experiences, aiming to transform wellness tourism in the region.
Dubai’s Vision for the Future
These groundbreaking initiatives align with Dubai’s ambition to be a hub for sustainability, smart mobility, and world-class tourism, showcasing the emirate’s relentless drive to innovate and lead on a global scale.
