Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Scholarships, a new initiative designed to develop specialised Emirati talent aligned with national priorities in economics, technology and policymaking.
The launch, held in the presence of Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marks a deliberate shift away from broad government training towards targeted academic programmes that directly serve the needs of the UAE's public sector.
The first cohort brings together a select group of Emirati professionals from government entities, who will pursue advanced degrees including a Master's in International Business and Policy, a Master's in Applied Artificial Intelligence, a Master's in Economics and the Oxford Executive Diploma in Artificial Intelligence for Business.
Programmes are delivered in partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, New York University Abu Dhabi, Georgetown University and the University of Oxford.
Speaking at the launch, Sheikh Mohammed said governments that lead breakthroughs are those that remain flexible, keep learning and are capable of turning knowledge into decisions and decisions into results.
Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi said the initiative represents a practical evolution in how government talent is cultivated, equipping participants to analyse change, connect knowledge with real-world application and deliver more effective public sector decisions.
The academic content centres on strengthening analytical capabilities, understanding global economic trends and applying artificial intelligence to government decision-making.
The scholarships reflect a broader national strategy to align education with the real demands of government, invest in Emirati talent and build a direct link between advanced knowledge and public sector performance — reinforcing the UAE's long-term global competitiveness.
