The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre has announced the opening of applications for its Research Experience for Undergraduates Programme 2026, offering Emirati students a hands-on pathway into space science research and advanced STEM fields.

The initiative aims to strengthen the national talent pipeline by providing practical research exposure under the guidance of leading experts in the UAE’s growing space sector.

The eight week in-person programme will run from June to August 2026 and is open to Emirati undergraduate students studying physics, chemistry, mathematics, and related STEM disciplines. Eligible applicants include sophomores, juniors, and seniors expected to graduate no earlier than Fall 2026.

A key feature of the programme is its one-to-one mentorship structure, pairing each participant with a specialist mentor. Students will work as research assistants on active science and engineering projects, contributing to studies with potential for academic publication. Weekly project milestones will help ensure structured progress and measurable outcomes throughout the programme.

Before the research phase begins, selected students will attend a preparatory REU Knowledge Camp designed to introduce research themes, align expectations, and familiarise participants with mentors and project objectives.

The 2026 edition will be hosted across five institutions, including Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai, alongside New York University Abu Dhabi, National Space Science and Technology Centre, and Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi.

Applications are open until 9 March 2026, with interested students invited to apply through the programme’s official online portal. The initiative reflects continued national efforts to nurture future scientists and engineers capable of contributing to the UAE’s long-term space ambitions.
