The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Ras Al Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University, has convened a two-day consultative workshop to outline a comprehensive strategy for the national health workforce. The initiative aims to align workforce development with global trends and international best practices, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to building a future-ready healthcare system.

Bringing together experts, specialists, and representatives from health and academic institutions, the workshop provided a platform to assess the current state of the healthcare workforce and explore innovative solutions to address present and future challenges. Discussions centred on key findings, indicators, and career pathways to strengthen the sustainability and efficiency of the sector.

The event featured a presentation by WHO on global health workforce strategies, alongside an in-depth analysis of the UAE’s healthcare labour market. Participants engaged in open discussions on enhancing career development opportunities, fostering national talent, and integrating digital skills into medical practice to keep pace with technological advancements.

Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector at MoHAP, highlighted the ministry’s dedication to establishing a robust strategic framework that empowers healthcare professionals across various medical fields. He emphasised the importance of nurturing national talent to lead the sector’s transformation in line with the UAE Centennial 2071 vision.

Dr. Taiba Mohammed Al-Awadi, Director of the Planning and Health Economics Department at MoHAP, underscored the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in healthcare. She stressed that equipping professionals with digital skills is crucial for delivering patient-centred care and enhancing service efficiency.

The workshop marks a significant step towards creating a resilient and highly skilled national health workforce, ensuring the UAE’s healthcare system evolves in tandem with global advancements.
