The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) recently conducted an interactive workshop for the second group of licensed higher education institutions (HEIs) in the UAE.
The session focused on the phased rollout of the automatic certificate recognition initiative, set to officially launch in the second quarter of 2025 under the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme.
The workshop addressed practical applications and university-led proposals to enhance the initiative’s efficiency. Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector and Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department at MoHESR, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to simplifying procedures and fostering innovation in education.
Utilizing blockchain technology, the initiative aims to improve efficiency, reliability, and compliance with global standards. It streamlines qualification recognition in line with international best practices, reducing manual processes and enabling fast digital verification of academic credentials.
Alsaadi highlighted that the initiative would ease the student journey by minimizing time and effort, allowing students to focus on academic excellence. Additionally, it reduces administrative burdens on HEIs, enabling them to enhance academic programmes and better support graduates in securing employment.
By eliminating bureaucratic hurdles, the initiative ensures graduates have seamless access to verified qualifications for job applications or further studies, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to modernizing education and supporting career development.
