The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has partnered with Microsoft to develop prototype AI agents designed to enhance higher education delivery in the UAE, supporting national priorities and advancing the country’s vision of becoming a global hub for innovation and advanced research.

The collaboration will leverage Microsoft Azure and cloud-based AI capabilities to research and develop agentic AI solutions that address key areas across the higher education ecosystem. The initiative aims to improve learning experiences, strengthen academic outcomes, and align research and skills development with the nation’s future needs.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said the partnership reflects the ministry’s commitment to deepening engagement across higher education and scientific research while ensuring innovation outcomes are closely aligned with national priorities.

Four prototype AI agents form the core of the initiative. A Lifelong Learning and Skills Progression agent will guide individuals through in-demand skills and career pathways. A Faculty Enablement and Course Co-Creation agent will support educators in updating curricula and co-designing courses with industry. A Student Personalised Learning agent will provide tailored academic support, while a Research Mission Alignment agent will link research activity to national missions and real-world challenges.

The ministry and Microsoft will also explore additional opportunities in data analytics, machine learning, and AI, using a participatory design approach that involves faculty, students, and industry stakeholders.

Amr Kamel, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, said agentic AI can unlock dynamic, personalised learning experiences and improve operational efficiency, positioning the UAE at the forefront of global innovation and strengthening its knowledge-based economy.
