Private sector workers in the UAE were given an extra day off for UAE National Day, making it a three-day weekend for them.

Originally, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation declared December 2 and 3 as paid holidays. But then, they updated it and included December 4 (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) as days off for private sector employees.

This change also applies to government workers, who will have the same holiday break. They'll be off from December 2 to 4, and on the day before the break (December 1, Friday), they'll work from home. Usually, Fridays are half-days for government workers.

Everyone goes back to work on Tuesday, December 5.

This system ensures that both public and private sector employees have an equal number of breaks throughout the year. UAE National Day, also known as UAE Union Day, is celebrated on December 2 each year, marking the Emirates' unity in 1971. This year, the country is turning 52.
