The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has introduced four new services to help rectify the status of violating workers and offer administrative fine exemptions to establishments during a two-month grace period.
Running from 1st September to 31st October, the initiative is part of a collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security under the campaign slogan "Towards a Safer Society."
This grace period is available for workers who incurred violations before 1st September 2024 and allows for services such as issuing, renewing, and canceling work permits, as well as processing work abandonment complaints. It applies to those with expired work or residency permits and individuals facing abandonment complaints, including domestic workers.
Additionally, establishments can apply for exemptions from administrative fines related to unsubmitted employment contracts or the failure to renew work permits. The Ministry is accepting applications for violator status settlement through its website, mobile app, business service centres, and domestic worker service centres.
MoHRE emphasized its readiness to efficiently process applications around the clock, with a focus on streamlining services and reducing bureaucratic requirements. The Ministry also urged violators and employers to take advantage of this opportunity to rectify their status without legal or financial consequences, reflecting the UAE's commitment to tolerance and social cohesion.
