Moro Hub Opens Second Phase of Green Data Centre, Setting Global Sustainability Benchmark
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, inaugurated the second phase of Moro Hub’s Green Data Centre at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
Operated by Data Hub Integrated Solutions (Moro Hub), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the centre exemplifies Dubai’s vision for sustainability and digital transformation.
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum was welcomed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, who highlighted the centre’s role in supporting Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. This milestone aligns with Dubai’s aim to source 100% of its energy from clean energy by 2050.
The carbon-neutral facility, powered entirely by solar energy, is the world’s largest green data centre, featuring advanced digital solutions including cloud computing, IoT, and cybersecurity. Phase two expands the centre’s capabilities to accelerate digital transformation and reduce carbon emissions across the region.
Attendees included top officials and industry leaders from entities such as Dubai Police, ENOC, Microsoft, Cisco, and Dell Technologies, emphasizing the centre’s significance as a global benchmark for renewable energy and green technologies.
Covering 100,000 square meters and set to achieve 100 MW capacity across 10 phases, the Tier-III certified facility fosters innovation while supporting sustainability. H.H. Sheikh Maktoum’s tour highlighted integrated solutions for smart cities, cybersecurity, and managed services, underscoring Dubai’s leadership in sustainability-driven digital transformation.
