The Museum of the Future in Dubai launched its inaugural Master Class series in collaboration with the Great Arab Minds initiative, featuring celebrated Iraqi artist Dia Al-Azzawi, a pioneer of contemporary Arab visual art and recipient of the 2024 Great Arab Minds Award.
The session brought together artists, academics, students, and cultural enthusiasts from across the UAE and beyond to explore the evolution of modern Arab art. Al-Azzawi reflected on the milestones that shaped the Arab art movement, highlighting its global impact and its role in expressing identity, preserving memory, and inspiring innovation through Arabic calligraphy and other creative forms.
He also offered insights into the symbols, techniques, and historical influences that defined his five-decade career, linking them to broader artistic and cultural developments. Addressing the audience, Al-Azzawi spoke about the relationship between art and humanity and the artist’s role in transmitting cultural and human values to future generations.
The event featured interactive displays and open discussions that encouraged creativity and exchange. As the official headquarters of the Great Arab Minds initiative, the Museum of the Future aims to foster Arab innovation and strengthen cultural connections through such programmes.
Part of the museum’s 2025 agenda, the Master Class series will continue with upcoming sessions featuring leading Arab figures including Algerian novelist Waciny Laredj and Jordanian architect Sahel Al-Hiyari, reinforcing the museum’s position as a global centre for creative dialogue and inspiration.
