11th Edition of Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament Kicks Off in Dubai

The competitions for the eleventh edition of the “Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Sports Tournament”, launched and supported by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, will commence from the evening of 11th March 2024.

Held under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the largest sports tournament of its kind during the Holy Month of Ramadan at the NAS Sports Complex is conducted under the slogan “Limitless Capabilities.”

Under the auspices of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the annual sports event, spanning until March 31, will showcase nine diverse disciplines, including Volleyball, Padel, Jiu-Jitsu, Fencing, Wheelchair Basketball, Road Race, Cycling, Tug-of-War, and an Obstacle Challenge. The Padel Championship will kick off the competitions, featuring top players globally, followed by various tournaments such as fencing, obstacle challenge, road running, Jiu-Jitsu, wheelchair basketball, cycling, volleyball, and tug-of-war throughout the month.

Led by Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Organising Committee, the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament further announced that the top finishers of this year’s various competitions stand to win more than AED3.6 million in cash prizes.

The Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, organized under the Dubai Sports Council, will award substantial prizes to winners, including AED1.5 million for the volleyball tournament, AED500,000 for the cycling race, over AED374,000 for the Padel tournament, AED325,000 for the road race, AED280,000 for tug-of-war, AED265,000 for the Obstacle Challenge, AED210,000 for Wheelchair Basketball, AED150,000 for Jiu-Jitsu, and AED56,000 for fencing. The tournament, supported by Sheikh Hamdan, has become a prominent international sporting event during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

“The Dubai Sports Council and the organising committee, under the directives of Sheikh Mansour, are constantly working to enhance the standing of this tournament at all sporting levels. Our main focus is to achieve the lofty goals set by Sheikh Hamdan. We have completed ten editions of this event and we owe much of this success to the vision of Sheikh Hamdan,”

Hareb commented.

Describing the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament as the premier sporting event during Ramadan, officials express that both amateur and professional athletes eagerly anticipate the Holy Month to engage in diverse activities and compete at a high level. The tournament fosters interaction between local athletes and top international competitors. Notably, each year brings the addition of a new sporting discipline, with the debut of tug-of-war and the Obstacle Challenge among the nine sports featured this Ramadan.

Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, and Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, expressed satisfaction with the tournament's pursuit of excellence, not only in the event itself but also in the performance of participating athletes. The eleventh edition features nine diverse sporting events, attracting international and Arab stars, aiming to provide a platform for local athletes and establish a lasting sports legacy in the UAE.

Hassan Al Mazrouei, the Course Director, commended the organizing committee's efforts in ensuring a distinct and high-quality competition for participants in this year's NAS Sports Tournament.
