Netflix Achieves Record-Breaking Quarter with 18.9 Million New Subscribers
Netflix has reported its most successful quarter ever, adding an unprecedented 18.9 million subscribers in Q4 2024, bringing its global subscriber base to over 300 million. This milestone marks the largest quarterly subscriber gain in the company’s history, driven by diverse content offerings and strategic pricing models.
Josh Gilbert, market analyst at eToro, highlighted the company's impressive performance.
“This record quarter caps off a landmark year for Netflix, which added 41 million subscribers in 2024. Hits like Squid Game and Live Sports events, such as Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul, have solidified Netflix's position as the leader in streaming,”
he said.
Netflix’s Q4 revenue surged by 16% year-over-year to USD $10.25 billion, exceeding earnings and revenue expectations. The company also raised its full-year revenue guidance for 2025, forecasting continued growth. The introduction of an ad-supported tier has broadened its appeal to cost-sensitive users while attracting premium advertisers.
Looking forward, Netflix will cease reporting subscriber numbers after this quarter, shifting investor focus to financial metrics like revenue growth, margins, and free cash flow. Gilbert emphasized that Netflix’s investment in Live Sports and its burgeoning ad segment will sustain momentum in 2025.
“With a robust content lineup and a strong value proposition, Netflix is well-positioned to justify future price increases,”
Gilbert added.
“The company’s growth trajectory shows no signs of slowing.”
Netflix’s ability to deliver compelling content across price points while controlling costs underscores its dominance in the streaming industry, making 2024 a defining year for the platform.
