The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) Board of Trustees convened its 15th meeting, chaired by Maqsoud Kruse, to discuss key updates and approve strategic initiatives for 2025.
Key discussions included a review of the General Secretariat's quarterly achievement report, covering 28 projects related to administrative, financial, and technical systems, as well as human resources. The Board approved NHRI’s 2025 budget and operational plan, aligned with its strategic focus on labour rights, women and children’s rights, People of Determination rights, and the right to health and mental health.
The 2025 plan features 34 human rights programmes, including ‘Legislation Lab’ and ‘Knowledge Lab,’ aimed at fostering legal and educational advancements in human rights. Specialized committees will be formed to conduct field visits and workshops to raise awareness in collaboration with national entities.
Innovative initiatives include the launch of ‘Manabir’, a YouTube educational series on human rights, and ‘Rights Journal’, a semi-annual digital publication. The Board also addressed improvements in the complaints system, such as launching a mobile app, upgrading the online complaints platform, and establishing a call centre dedicated to addressing public concerns.
These initiatives underscore NHRI’s commitment to promoting a culture of human rights and enhancing accessibility for stakeholders across the nation.
