In a move to reinforce its commitment to protecting human rights in the UAE, the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) conducted a field inspection at a labour accommodation facility in Dubai Industrial City.

The visit was led by Ameirah Al Seraidi, Member of the NHRI’s Board of Trustees, alongside fellow board members Dr. Zayed Al Shamsi and Noor Al Suwaidi, and NHRI Secretary-General Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli.

Accompanied by a team of technical and human rights experts, the NHRI delegation met with workers individually and in small groups to assess their living conditions and listen to their feedback. These visits are part of a broader initiative to ensure that the rights of workers are fully respected, in line with UAE legislation and international human rights conventions.

Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the NHRI, emphasized the institution’s dedication to monitoring and improving the welfare of workers across the country.

“The National Human Rights Institution spares no effort to promote and protect the rights of workers in the UAE,”

he said.

“This visit reflects our firm keenness to continuously monitor their conditions and ensure the provision of a suitable work environment and decent living standards.”

This visit marks a continuation of NHRI’s field efforts, first launched in February under Clause (7) of Article (5) of Federal Law No. (12) of 2021. The law empowers the NHRI to conduct on-site inspections across various institutions, including labour accommodations, to ensure human rights compliance and raise awareness on key issues.

The NHRI’s field visits aim to drive practical improvements, provide policy recommendations, and support the UAE’s ongoing efforts to uphold and advance human rights standards.
