The National Media Authority (NMA) has launched the Blue Content Creators Programme, an initiative to train 50 UAE citizens and residents to produce digital content on water issues ahead of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference in Abu Dhabi.

The programme is run with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Youth Authority, in collaboration with the New Media Academy. It aims to highlight the UAE’s efforts in sustainability, innovation and international cooperation, while showing the links between water, health, food, energy and development.

The UAE will co-host the conference with Senegal from December 8 to 10.

“The decisions we make today about water will shape the world inherited by future generations,”

said Abdulla Ahmed Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability. He said young voices should help guide those decisions.

NMA Secretary-General Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi said the programme will give participants the knowledge and skills to communicate the UAE’s message to audiences at home and abroad. Hussein Al Atoli, Director of the New Media Academy, said it seeks to develop responsible creators who can turn specialised water topics into engaging stories.

Training will run for three weeks in November and cover water issues, storytelling, video production, digital publishing strategies and the use of AI tools. Participants will then apply these skills to create content related to the December conference.

Applications are open from October 12 to 30 to UAE citizens and residents aged 18 to 35 with an interest in content creation, media, water, the environment or sustainability. Candidates will be assessed on eligibility, skills and motivation, and the final group will be selected to reflect the diversity of UAE society.
