Obstacle Challenge Race Kicks Off at Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament
The much-anticipated Obstacle Challenge Race (OCR) is set to commence on Thursday as part of the 12th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, held annually during Ramadan at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.
The largest sports competition of its kind operates under the inspiring slogan, “Limitless Capabilities.”
The OCR is a timed race where participants navigate 400 metres of challenging terrain, overcoming 11 obstacles along the course. Competitors must complete the race within five minutes, with each participant allowed a single attempt during the qualifying rounds. Failing to overcome an obstacle after two attempts incurs a time penalty, while crossing an obstacle improperly results in disqualification. The competition features two categories: Open Men and Open Women, welcoming both UAE citizens and residents. The top 20 participants in each category with the fastest times will secure a place in the finals.
Alongside the OCR, the Organising Committee hosted the draw ceremony for the Wheelchair Basketball Championship at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, reinforcing the tournament’s commitment to inclusivity.
In the Nad Al Sheba Padel Championship group stages, Saudi Arabia edged out Australia 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. After an initial setback, Saudi Arabia’s Faisal Al Rabdi and Abdul Rahman Al Zam equalised, setting the stage for Sattam Al Shahrani and Hussein Al Maraj to claim victory in a tense decider. The Netherlands triumphed over Kuwait 2-1, while Iran dominated Bahrain with a 3-0 win.
With fierce competition across multiple sports, the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament continues to celebrate athletic excellence and community spirit during the holy month of Ramadan.
