OpenAI's ChatGPT Hits 200 Million Weekly Users, Doubling Since Last Fall
OpenAI has announced that its chatbot, ChatGPT, now boasts over 200 million weekly active users, marking a significant increase from the 100 million reported last fall. Launched in 2022, ChatGPT generates human-like responses based on user prompts. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had previously disclosed the 100 million figure in November.
In addition to its user growth, OpenAI reports that 92 percent of Fortune 500 companies are utilizing its products. The company also noted a doubling in the use of its automated Application Programming Interface (API) since the introduction of ChatGPT-4o mini in July, highlighting the expanding adoption of its technology.
