Oracle is amplifying its UAE cloud infrastructure, including Abu Dhabi data centers, by fivefold as the GCC accelerates cloud and AI adoption.

Richard Smith, Oracle’s EVP for technology in EMEA, highlighted this expansion during the Oracle CloudWorld Tour in Dubai, emphasizing the region’s growing demand for advanced technologies driven by initiatives like Saudi Vision 2030 and UAE’s digital transformation goals.

“AI adoption in the Middle East and Africa is among the fastest globally,”

Smith said, attributing this growth to transformative governmental agendas. Oracle is leveraging partnerships with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Meta to meet this demand with cutting-edge AI capabilities and infrastructure.

Sovereign Cloud Solutions

Oracle’s Alloy platform underpins the GCC’s shift to sovereign cloud solutions, ensuring data sovereignty. Key partnerships include du in the UAE and STC in Saudi Arabia, enabling these telecom giants to deliver secure AI and cloud services from local data centers, tailored to regional requirements. Du’s deployment of Alloy accelerates AI adoption in sectors like government and public services while maintaining data control and security.

Modernizing IT Infrastructure

GCC organizations are transitioning from on-premise systems to Oracle’s modern cloud solutions, benefiting from dynamic updates, enhanced AI capabilities, and regulatory compliance. Bahrain exemplifies this shift, modernizing its systems using Oracle Alloy while adhering to data sovereignty rules.

Global AI Investments

Oracle’s commitment to AI extends beyond the GCC, as evidenced by its partnership in Stargate, a $500 billion AI infrastructure initiative led by OpenAI and Softbank. New AI data centers will be built in the US, reflecting Oracle’s leadership in AI and machine learning for nearly five decades.

Smith emphasized that Oracle’s innovations, like the autonomous database, are transforming how data is processed and analyzed, driving the company’s leadership in AI infrastructure and generative AI solutions.

“AI is a burgeoning area of growth, and Oracle is at the forefront,”

Smith concluded, reaffirming the company’s role in reshaping the GCC’s digital landscape.
