Dubai's PCFC Reports 105% Surge in Bunkering Company Licenses

The Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation reported a 105% increase in bunkering company licenses issued in Dubai Waters during Q1 2024, alongside overall enhanced maritime operations.

CEO H.E. Nasser Al Neyadi credited directives from H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and aligned efforts with H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision for maritime sector efficiency, competitiveness, and security enhancement. The Corporation's ongoing development aims to bolster Dubai's position as a leading global maritime hub.

The CEO commended strategic partners for enhancing Dubai's global maritime standing, noting increased attractiveness for various operations. Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime Authority, attributed achievements to Dubai's trader-friendly environment and digital infrastructure. Recent statistics show efficiency gains, including a 3.4% rise in Anchorage approvals and an 82% increase in ship Towing operations, underscoring Dubai's strategic maritime position and government's commitment to trade growth.

Sheikh Saeed emphasized the DMA’s role in regulating and overseeing the maritime sector and activities across the Emirate. The Authority has been dedicated to formulating and adopting a strategy focused on projects to develop and introduce regulatory frameworks for the maritime sector, enabling those working in this sector to conduct their activities and invest in an approach that aligns with the Emirate's economic directions.
