The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) posted a strong operational performance in the first quarter of 2026, recording more than 9 million vehicle entries across its ports and free zones and issuing over 800,000 entry permits through its 'Tasreeh' system — all while maintaining uninterrupted services despite regional challenges earlier in the year.

The standout figure from the quarter was a 90% reduction in violations between January and March, attributed to intensified enforcement measures and growing compliance across all locations. In total, 1,056 violations were recorded, including 641 traffic-related cases, alongside 8,633 completed security transactions.

Central to this performance is a newly established Traffic Control and Enforcement Section, which oversees 50 gates across 11 locations and is supported by approximately 250 security personnel operating round the clock. The department has also deployed specialised national cadres in commercial and maritime security to strengthen on-ground oversight.

Sultan Al Malik, Director of the Security Department at PCFC, credited the sharp decline in violations to continuous inspections, stronger enforcement mechanisms and improved regulatory adherence among users. He noted that the results reflect the department's broader strategy of enhancing compliance, tightening oversight and accelerating response times.

The department also demonstrated emergency preparedness during the quarter, successfully managing all reports related to rainwater accumulation during adverse weather conditions across the emirate. All cases were resolved within record timeframes in coordination with relevant authorities.

Beyond enforcement, PCFC's security operations continued to deliver core services including permit management, patrol operations and field inspections — reinforcing the Corporation's commitment to a secure, resilient and business-friendly environment aligned with global best practices.
