In a significant step toward enhancing security collaboration and promoting travel, Qatar has been designated into the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP), marking it the first Gulf country to join.

The decision, announced by U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, reflects Qatar’s commitment to meeting strict security requirements, boosting information sharing between the two nations, and further cementing the strategic partnership.

Qatar's inclusion allows citizens to travel to the U.S. for up to 90 days for business or tourism without a visa, starting December 2024. U.S. citizens already enjoy visa-free travel to Qatar, and with this agreement, their stay will be extended to 90 days, up from 30. This collaboration highlights the U.S. and Qatar's growing economic and security ties.

This move is expected to facilitate smoother travel, enhance security, and promote economic growth between both nations. More details on applying via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) will follow soon.
