RailBus to Connect Karama, Al Barsha, and Deira to Metro Network: Here's How

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled RailBus at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025, introducing an innovative transport solution designed to bridge the gap between residential areas and the Dubai Metro and Tram networks.

Malek Ramadan Mishmish, Director of the RTA’s Rail Planning and Projects Development Department, explained that RailBus will focus on densely populated communities not yet serviced by the Metro, such as Karama, Al Barsha, and Deira. The service will operate within these areas, using a dedicated rail network to transport passengers from neighborhoods to Metro stations, enhancing accessibility for residents.

The RailBus is designed to be spacious, offering ample room for both seating and standing passengers. With a focus on reducing noise pollution, the vehicles are optimized for residential environments, making them a quiet and efficient transportation option.

Set to be a key component in Dubai's future transportation network, RailBus will be 3D-printed using recycled materials. The sleek, aerodynamic design ensures minimal energy consumption while maintaining passenger comfort. The capsule-like vehicle measures 11.5 meters in length, 2.65 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height. Capable of carrying up to 40 passengers, the RailBus can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h.

RTA officials also emphasized the cost-effectiveness of RailBus, which offers a more affordable alternative to expanding the Metro and Tram systems. The service will be driverless, much like the Metro and Tram, and will run on solar power, aligning with Dubai's sustainability goals.

With technical and feasibility studies set to be completed in the next two to three years, RailBus is poised to redefine urban transportation, connecting communities and enhancing mobility in the city’s evolving infrastructure.
