The UAE's Council for Fatwa decided how much Zakat and atonement to pay if you miss fasting during Ramadan this year.

For Zakat Al Fitr, it's either Dh25 cash or 2.5kg of rice per person. Zakat is a must for all Muslims, young or old, who can give money or food. It's paid on the last day of Ramadan. If you can't fast, you need to pay Dh15 per day missed. Or you can give 3.25kg of wheat per day instead.

For those who break their fast intentionally, they must pay Dh15 for each person, totaling Dh900 for sixty poor people. Alternatively, they can provide 3.25kg of wheat for each person.

If someone passes away while fasting without paying Zakat, their close ones must pay it on their behalf. This can be settled from the deceased's estate, either 3.35km of land per day or Dh15 for each person.

Those who delay making up for missed fasts without an excuse need to pay Dh15 per person for each day missed, or provide 3.25kg of wheat for each person.

If someone makes a false oath while fasting, they must compensate by paying Dh15 to ten poor people, totaling Dh150, or provide 3.25kg of wheat for each person to be fed.
