RERA Calls on Property Owners to Join Owners Committees for Enhanced Transparency and Sustainability

The Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), a subsidiary of the Dubai Land Department, has urged property owners in jointly owned properties to register for Owners Committees in accordance with the Jointly Owned Property Law. This initiative is part of RERA’s ongoing efforts to boost transparency and foster sustainability in the emirate’s real estate sector.

Owners Committees are designed to empower property owners and encourage their active involvement in the management of residential communities. The move aligns with Dubai’s broader vision to improve property management while promoting transparency and accountability. The committees also aim to enhance the quality of life for residents by ensuring greater comfort and satisfaction.

Mohammed Ali Al Badwawi, Acting CEO of RERA, highlighted that the automation of the registration process would streamline operations and enhance coordination between the committees and management companies. He emphasized that Owners Committees are key to achieving real estate sustainability, handling tasks such as reviewing budgets, prioritizing maintenance, and providing feedback on service plans.

Mohammed Al Dah, Director of RERA’s Jointly Owned Properties Management Department, stressed the importance of property owners participating in decision-making processes within their communities. He called on eligible owners to register, as these committees play a vital role in safeguarding investments and promoting efficiency and transparency.

To register, property owners must meet certain criteria, including residing in the property, holding a valid UAE ID, providing a certificate of good conduct from Dubai Police, and settling all service fees. Registration is open until January 31, 2025, with priority given to the first nine registrants. Successful applicants will be announced in February.

Interested owners can register via the Dubai REST app or the DLD website.
