Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority in partnership with Careem has recorded more than 10 million cycling trips through the Careem Bike service since its launch in February 2020, marking a major milestone in the city’s push for sustainable mobility.

The achievement highlights Dubai’s ongoing efforts to build a safe and environmentally friendly transport ecosystem while promoting healthier lifestyles. The initiative supports the emirate’s ambition to become a bicycle-friendly city, with cycling increasingly integrated into daily commutes and leisure activities.

RTA continues to expand its cycling infrastructure through a growing network of tracks that connect residential communities with key destinations and public transport hubs. Designed to international standards, the network enables efficient first and last mile travel, encouraging wider adoption of sustainable transport options.

To celebrate the milestone, RTA and Careem rewarded top users with complimentary subscriptions and dining vouchers. One user was recognised for completing nearly 5,000 trips, reflecting strong community engagement.

A limited promotion will offer new users single rides at AED 9.5 on April 11 and 12 using a special code, aiming to make cycling more accessible across the city.

According to RTA, the service has contributed to reducing around 6,590 tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to removing more than 2,000 cars from the roads. The cycling network has also expanded significantly, growing from just 6 kilometres in 2009 to 636 kilometres by the end of 2025, with plans to reach 1,000 kilometres by 2030.

Since its launch, Careem Bike has grown from 71 stations to 210, now serving 49 communities across Dubai, reinforcing its role in the city’s evolving transport landscape.
